MEET THE EXEC

MIGUEL SANDINO SIBAL
Director
CIVIL & BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING IV

Well met, weary travelers. My name is Miguel and it is an honour beyond all honours (and even an honour beyond that) to be able to step into the role of Director for the musical this year! Since The Dark Ages (my Grade 11 era), I remember watching musical videos on YouTube amped to the nines about the opportunity of joining this production. I have fallen in love with this community and the people that uphold it and am so grateful for the kindness that has been shared with me since joining. You’re here for a long time, so you might as well make it a good time! This marks my fourth year of indoctrination into the club, previously being on cast for Shreng (2022), Hamleng (2023), and Beetlejoules (2024). For Beetlejoules, I had the most wonderful experience being the Assistant Director and can’t wait to keep the exec grind going to dive head first with the expertise osmosed into me for another show! Outside of shows, I am most likely yapping and undergoing existential crises at Thode, writing silly stories in my notes app, or watching multiple hours of DND campaigns. As much as I love writing essays, none will ever be able to truly describe the love that I have for this club (it literally makes my teeth hurt, but like, in a really good way). MEM has helped me found a home, in more ways than one, and here’s to another beautiful year of energy. Mwah!

CLAIRE PATTERSON
Producer
MECHANICAL AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING IV

Woah! We're still doing this exec thing?? I haven't been impeached yet?? Crazy. Some things about me (presumably that's why you're reading this). Fact 1: I have played the trombone in the musical since my first year, although have been playing for a lot longer than that in the grand scheme of things. Fact 1.5: I thought of something else to add here but didn't want to change all the numbers. Fact 1.75: My aunt also plays trombone, and I use her old horn! Fact 1.875: I call my horn the 'Moose Call'. Fact 2: I own a signed pair of socks from the Canadian Brass and they are one of my most prized possessions. Fact 3: Aside from Engineering, I also take French courses, hoping to get a professional French certificate (if/when) I graduate. Fact 4: I'm currently on co-op, so will be logging a lot of kilometres on my car commuting back and forth from Hamilton every weekend this year. Fact 5: I have a standard poodle and his name is Harley and he is my absolute world.  Fact 6: Outside of classes, co-op, and musical, I'm also in my hometown's concert band, am the Engagement Manager at Oligomaster Inc., (s/o their sponsorship), and am one of five founding members of a startup called Dinomometer. Fact 7: I love spreadsheets it's not even funny Excel should be short for excellent.

JONNY HUGHES
Assistant Director
MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT IV

Hey folks! My name is Jonny, and this will be my 4th year on the McMaster Engineering Musical. From Joe Mama in Shreng, to a Horse in Hamleng, to another Horse in Beetlejoules, I have loved every minute of my time in this silly little club. It has given me the opportunity to meet so many fun, interesting, and creative people, and I am eternally grateful for all this space has given me This club has meant so much to me, and I am more than excited to be this year's Assistant Director. Some may have heard this story but I was actually unwillingly tricked into joining musical in my first year, but it was the best trick ever played on me and I am so happy that it happened, because I don't know where I would be without it. If you are reading this, come join the musical, see the musical, or trick others into doing so! You will not regret it. Outside of my slight obsession with this club (it means a lot to me if you didn't get that yet). I enjoy playing intramural sports of any kind, playing and listening to music, and helping smalltown artists with a dream make it to the big city where they will go down a troubling road of fame only to realize that their hometown roots meant more to them they could've ever known, and they eventually move back to the ranch with their former big city (newly converted to small town) partner.

ANNA NAUMOVA
Assistant Producer
MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT III

Heyyyyyy there! I'm Anna, and I'm honored to serve as Assistant Producer for this year's McMaster Engineering Musical. My MEM journey started back in first year when I had the privilege of serving as Choreographer. It's been a wild ride blending my love for dance with the creative chaos of MEM and making some awesome friends along the way. Last year, I decided to dive headfirst into the MEM madness and joined the cast, ensuring I had even less time to complete schoolwork. Now, as Assistant Producer, I'm excited to tackle new challenges and help make this year's show the best one yet. Outside of MEM, I like to dedicate my time to more clubs. You can find me either in the bay, working with electrical components for the Mars Rover team, or in DBAC busting a move. Do NOT look for me in lecture! I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a talented and dedicated team, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes us!

Crew Leader

COMPUTER SCIENCE III

Hi! My name is Rhea, and I am very excited to spend my third year with the Mac Eng Musical as Crew Leader. Ever since my first crew meeting in my first year, I knew this club was going to be a huge part of my university experience. I love the creative outlet MEM provides. When school becomes overwhelming, I know cardboard, paint, and my fellow crew members can make everything better again. Throughout the past two years as stage crew, I have had the privilege of learning from the most talented and creative people whose leadership inspires me every day. I can’t wait for a great year ahead and am so grateful for MEM and all its supporters. When I’m not defying the laws of physics with cardboard, I enjoy crocheting, playing volleyball, and hiking.

NEHA CHITALIA
Co-Production Manager
MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING AND SOCIETY III

Hi, I'm Neha, and this is my third year being a part of MEM's production team! I worked on lights for both Hamleng and Beetlejoules, and I'm so excited to work as production manager for this year's show. MEM has been a highlight for me since first year, and I really enjoy getting to work with everyone to see the entire show come together. Outside of musical I like to bake unreasonable amounts of cookies, crochet, listen to music, and go for runs :D

MEGAN SAUNDERS
Band Co-Leader
ELECTRICAL AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING III

Hello hello! My name is Megan, and I am so excited to be this year’s Band Co-director. I play the clarinet, and this will be my third show with MEM after Hamleng and Beetlejoules. Some of my best memories from university have come from being involved in the musical, and I have met so many amazing people through this community. Having a creative outlet to carry me through the stress of an engineering degree has been so beneficial, and I feel so lucky to share this experience with so many talented, artistic people! Outside of musical, I am involved with McMaster Med-T and the Electrical & Comp Eng Society! I enjoy swimming, going to the gym and playing NYT/Linkedin games (connections >>)

ANDREW THOMPSON
Band Co-Leader
SOFTWARE V

Howdy! I'm Andrew, back in action for my fourth (4th!!!!!) McMaster Engineering Musical playing the alto sax! I've been doing this thing since the glorious Shreng (2022) and I could not be more excited be co-leading this excitable, dynamic, funny, good-looking and talented group of pleasantly-scented engineers we call a band. The MEM has been such a highlight of my time at Mac, with theatre week being my favourite week of the year (try to snipe me clicking my heels). 7 days having way too much fun with your friends, sleeping way too little sleep (with your friends), drinking way too much club soda (with your friends) and putting on an absolute crankster of a show! Who even thinks of that? With the utmost seriousness, I could not recommend this club any more, and it has been such a defining part of my life the past few years. When I'm "busy" doing non-musical stuff, you can find me cosplaying as a math student (maybe someday...), napping in Thode basement (the carpet's not THAT dirty), trying to learn the accordion, reading fantasy tomes (it should break my toe if I drop it and break my heart if I read it), and spending way too much time playing mid-2000s children's video games.

BAOZE LIN
Writing Crew Coordinator
SOFTWARE AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING IV

Howdy, peeps and paps! I have been part of the MEM writing crew for 2 years thus far, and this year will be my third!!! I'm super excited to be returning to the group as the writing crew coordinator to write the dopest script of all millennium. Writing the musical script is an absolute banger experience and is almost like burying a little 4-month time capsule for yourself and your friends to discover. I cannnot recommend it enough! If you love and/or have a background in writing fanfiction, fiction, nonfiction, historical fiction, science fiction, poems, stories, soliloquies, monologues, dialogues, trialogues, more-than-that-alogues, the writing crew has a spot for you! A l'outside de le musical, I'm a bronze demon in Valorant and will often fall asleep to Revisionist History podcast episodes, with my favourite podcast/lullaby being "Way to Go, Ohio". Shortout to my boy Malcolm Gladwell and his soothing voice. 🗣️🗣️
